Good Morning VPs of Ethnic Concerns and Task Forces - Please share the following information with your membership. - Thank you!


The AMCD Mentoring Program Committee is seeking Mentors and Application Reviewers for the 2020 AMCD Mentoring Program year. The AMCD Mentoring Program is designed to have a positive influence on AMCD at the organizational level (i.e., leadership nationally and statewide) and the participant level (i.e., mentor and mentee). The goal of the AMCD Mentoring Program is to make sure that our mentees: are in an appropriate context for self-discovery, gaining a sense of direction and purpose, and developing the professional and leadership skills while being surrounded by AMCD mentors, leadership team, and members to assist with their professional process.


MENTORS responsibilities include:
~Being paired with one (1) mentee (Graduate student or New professional)
~Providing mentorship by playing an active role in the mentee's professional development during conferences and throughout their career journey. Mentors are strongly encouraged to communicate with the mentee at least once a month
~Assisting the mentee develop and create their Research Poster for the AMCD Research Symposium
~Mentors are strongly encouraged (but not required) to attend the upcoming ACA conference to interact with and assist the incoming class of mentees throughout their conference experience

APPLICATION REVIEWERS responsibilities include:
~Reviewing (reading and scoring) up to 5-7 potential mentee applications (Application Packets include a letter of consideration, a letter of support, and a 2-page research proposal)
~Completing the review within three weeks
