Subject: 2018 Class of the AMCD Mentoring Program

Hello Everyone,

The AMCD Mentoring Program had a number of strong graduate students and new professional applicants apply for the 2018 Mentoring Program. After careful review and consideration, the mentoring committee has selected the following graduate students and new professionals for the 2018 Class of the AMCD Mentoring Program:

Sarah N. Baquet, PhD Student, Idaho State University, “Narratives of Successful Latinx Counselor Educators”

Meghan Berger, New Professional, Xavier University of Louisiana, “Utilizing a Community Needs Assessment as a MSJCC Skill Building Opportunity”

Kristy Christopher-Holloway, PhD Student, Argosy University – Atlanta Campus, “Examining Mental Health Help-Seeking in Religious or Spiritual Infertile African American Women”

Sylvester Hanner, PhD Student, Duquesne University Pittsburgh, PA, “College and Career Readiness: Examining the Perceptions of At-Risk African-American High School Students”

Yoonsuh Moh, PhD Student, The George Washington University – Washington, DC, “An Examination of the Relationship Between Wellness of International Counseling Professionals (e.g., international counseling students, faculty members, and counselors) and Professional Identity in Counseling”

The Mentees will be actively involved with the AMCD events including the Day of Service, the Past President’s & Graduate Student Reception, and volunteering at the 2018 AMCD booth in the exhibit hall. Additionally, the Mentees will be presenting a poster presentation on their research submitted for the program. Please make sure to congratulate each of them when you see them in Atlanta, GA. Also, please make sure to stop by the Mentor/Mentee Meeting on Saturday, April 28 at 2:00-3:30pm to support their research endeavors.

Thank you to the 2018 AMCD Mentoring Committee for the time involved in reading and rating the applications. I greatly appreciate each of you.

If anyone has any questions, please do not hesitate to contact me. See you all in Atlanta!
